The New Translation of the Missal.
The new translation of the Roman Missal comes into force on the 23rd Sunday of the Church’s Year (3rd/4th September 2011.) This will be the biggest change in the language used at Mass since the Second Vatican Council when Mass was authorised to be celebrated in the vernacular (local language of each country.)
To help with the New Translation the Catholic Bishop’s Conference have produced an excellent interactive DVD called: Become one Body one Spirit in Christ which helps us all to understand the New Translation and the Mass to a degree we may not do at present and it is a fabulous opportunity to really appreciate the Mass and the New translation.
We will be showing this in Sacred Heart over four sessions in the Parish Hall, one each week of September and each session will be repeated on another night in the same week. Please do come. When the New Translation comes into force we need to hit the ground running so please put the dates and times in your diaries now before the holidays start so that we’re ready when the course starts in September. You will find copies for everyone on the hymn book trolley, a copy is on the notice board in the porch and also on the website. (Please go to the Home page and click on the link.) Cards with your new responses will be available in September as will small wallet-size cards and simple Mass books with all of the New Translation in. We will continue to use the existing Parish Mass books for the readings as these do not change.
